Call it a battle of the band. Wilco to be specific.

Former member Jay Bennett is suing front man Jeff Tweedy over royalty money during the seven years he was with the group.

At the center of the breach-of-contract lawsuit, how much compensation the sound engineer and sometimes band member  deserves from a 2002 Wilco documentary "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart." The film followed the making of Wilco's album "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

"As a recording musician in Wilco, Bennett is entitled to compensation for his services rendered in the form of continuing and perpetual artist royalty payments from" Tweedy, the lawsuit says.

No one from Tweedy and Wilco's management company, Tony Margherita Management, responded to requests for comment by the Associated Press.
