DETROIT — The Detroit Red Wings won their fifth straight game and surged 10 points clear atop the NHL's Central Division with a 6-1 thrsahing of the Dallas Stars on Thursday.
Marian Hossa, Dan Cleary, Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg each had a goal and an assist for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Kirk Maltby and Tomas Holmstrom also scored, Niklas Kronwall added three assists, and Chris Osgood made 22 saves.
Bruins 6, Senators 4
In Boston, the home team claimed the league's highest points total with a win over Ottawa.
The Bruins moved to 64 points for the season, one above the San Jose Sharks, who have two games in hand.
David Krejci and Marc Savard scored in the third period to secure the win. Savard also had two assists.
The Senators have lost seven of their past eight.
Flyers 3, Wild 1
In Philadelphia, the home side took sole possession of the Atlantic Division lead by defeating Minnesota.
Mike Knuble, Scott Hartnell and Scottie Upshall scored for the Flyers. Hartnell's second period goal ended Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom's bid for three straight shutouts. He had gone 149 minutes, 9 seconds without conceding before Hartnell scored.
Blackhawks 2, Avalanche 1
In Denver, Wojtek Wolski's goal with seven minutes remaining saw Chicago edge Colorado.
Andrew Raycroft stopped 43 shots for Colorado.Canadiens 6, Maple Leafs 2
In Montreal, the hosts notched a third straight win by beating Canadian rival Toronto.
Andrei Kostitsyn had a goal and two assists, and Jaroslav Halak made 30 saves for the Canadiens, who have lost only once in regulation in the past 10 games.
Panthers 4, Hurricanes 2
In Sunrise, Florida, Carolina's four-game winning streak ended at the hands of Southeast Division rival Florida.
Jay Bouwmeester and Nathan Horton scored early in the third period to break a tie and put the Panthers on course for victory.
Kings 4, Ducks 3
In Los Angeles, Alexander Frolov scored the winner as Los Angeles withstood a rallying hat trick from Anaheim rookie Bobby Ryan.
The Kings led 3-0 before Ryan got three goals in just 2:21 to tie the game, only for the Kings to hit back.
Ryan's hat trick was the first by an Anaheim rookie in the franchise's 15-year history.
Predators 5, Penguins 3
In Nashville, Tennessee, Nashville ended a five-game losing skid by downing Pittsburgh.
Ryan Suter's power-play goal at 9:04 of the third period broke the tie.
The Penguins have lost six of their past seven games.
Thrashers 4, Devils 0
In Newark, New Jersey, Atlanta managed its first shutout of the season to cruised past New Jersey.
Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and an assist for the Thrashers, while goalie Kari Lehtonen made 29 saves for his 12th career shutout.
Flames 5, Islanders 2
In Calgary, Alberta, Calgary notched its sixth straight home win by defeating struggling New York.
Daymond Langkow scored his 15th goal and added two assists for Calgary, giving him six goals and six assists during a seven-game points streak.
The Islanders are a miserable 0-13-1 in their past 14 road games.
Coyotes 3, Lightning 2
In Glendale, Arizona, Phoenix beat Tampa Bay for the first time in nearly eight years.
Kyle Turris broke a tie with 11:51 remaining for the Coyotes.
