Grossman as QB Doesn't Have to Frighten Us

The Bears Back-Up Did Give Us Some Good Times

We still haven't heard much on Kyle Orton's injury. Outside of the fact that his ankle is injured, not much has been said by the Bears about Orton. If Orton is out for the game against the undefeated Tennessee Titans next week, Bears fans will have to get used to seeing Rex Grossman out on the field. To ease us through that transition, let's take a look back at some of the good times with Grossman.

NFC Divisional Playoffs, January 14, 2007, Bears 27, Seahawks 24:
Though Robbie Gould was the hero of this game, kicking a field goal in overtime to help the Bears move on in the playoffs, but it was Grossman's play in overtime that set up Gould's FG. He also threw for 282 yards and a touchdown in this game.

October 29, 2006, Bears 41, 49ers 10
: Brian Urlacher is often talked about when discussing this game, mostly for his instant highlight reel one-handed interception but Grossman had one of his best games against San Francisco. He went 23-29 while throwing for 252 yards and three touchdown passes.

Christmas 2005, Bears 24, Packers 17: This game was the best Christmas present I was given that day. Grossman only threw for 166 yards, but it didn't matter. This was the first time the Bears had swept the division rival Packers since 1991. The win clinched the NFC North and a first-round bye for the playoffs, and he was the man in charge. I'll try to forget that the Bears went onto lose to the Panthers in the playoffs, despite an 11-5 record in the regular season.

Those memories most of us have of Grossman -- of him overthrowing, and throwing to the other team, and throwing to the sidelines -- shouldn't be our only memories of Sexy Rexy. He brought us to a Super Bowl and gave us a dream season in 2006, so maybe it won't be all bad if he has to take over for Orton.
