It's hard to believe that just a year ago, the Bulldogs (12-12) were fighting for a state title with All-American Jereme Richmond. He's moved onto the Illini, and Waukegan has struggled to find its way without him. Plenty of talent remain. They're jelling at the right time with seniors Aaron Johnson and Akeem Springs. The Bulldogs will need to improve upon a 2-14 effort from 3-point range in the Wednesday upset win over Prospect (19-7) in order to get by Mundelein.
Possibly the best team no one knows anything about, the second seeded Mustangs (27-4). Senior Ryan Sawvell (Evansville recruit) leads the best Mundelein team since 2007. Sean O'Brien, Leavon Head and the Knar kids (Robert and Dicky) add weapons to a team that likes to get up and down. Expect a lot of offense in the regional title game on Friday night.
