Hometown Hero: A local boy takes home the title of 'American Idol.' Lee DeWyze beat out Crystal Bowersox on last night's finale. Funny thing was, all the judges picked Crystal to take it. Apparently viewers felt the Mount Prospect native was a better pick. The show also paid tribute to longtime judge, Simon Cowell. It was his last night on the show. No word yet on who will replace him.
Red Carpet Return: We haven't seen much of Sandra Bullock since news broke of her husband's infidelities, but that's all about to change. The Oscar winning actress will walk the red carpet at the June 6 MTV Movie Awards, her rep tells People. The 45-year-old will be receiving the MTV Generation Award, something other big names like Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey and Spike Lee have been honored with. We won't hear much from her however because she doesn't plan to do any interviews afterward.
Only One: John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston are expecting, but just one baby, not two. "Totally false," their rep tells UsMagazine.com about rumors that Preston was carrying twins. Travolta and Preston have a 10-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu. Their 16-year-old son, Jett, tragically died of a seizure in 2009.
Oh Baby?: Mariah Carey quickly and unexpectedly pulled out of an upcoming movie, fueling rumors the singer/actress may be expecting herself. People has learned that Carey withdrew from a role in Tyler Perry's upcoming adaption of Ntozake Shange's 1975 play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf." Filming was supposed to start next month. Carey's rep wouldn't give a reason for her withdrawal.
Weight Revelation: Rapper/actor 50 cent has lost a shocking amount of weight for an upcoming film, and when I say shocking, I mean shocking. On his website, ThisIs50.com, it says he went from 214 to 160 pounds in just nine weeks by being on a liquid diet and working out at least three hours a day. 50 will play a cancer-ridden football player in the film. He's also co-producing it.
