Ballpark Food Keeps Getting Better And Better

Wayne shares new menus at US Cellular Field from Levy Restaurant Executive Chef Olegario Soto

If it’s baseball season, you have to be thinking about a hot dog at the ballpark.  But, if you take in a Sox game at The Cell this year, you’ll be treated to everything from a hot dog to Cheetos mac and cheese to gluten free snacks and craft beers.  On my trip to US Cellular Field on opening day, I had the pleasure of sampling all the new offerings this year from Levy Restaurant executive chef Olegario Soto.

In the Stadium Club, you’ll find the new Artisan Bar, featuring a variety of craft beers from breweries like Great Lakes, Point, New Belgium, Rogue and Goose Island.

Also in the Stadium Club and debuting later this season on the LG Skyline Club Level is Mac Madness featuring unique varieties of mac & cheese. You can sample Cheetos Mac & Cheese, which is cavatappi pasta with creamy cheese sauce topped with Cheetos, as well as other varieties like spinach and artichoke mac & cheese and Buffalo chicken mac & cheese.

More new items in the Stadium Club include new varieties of meatball sandwiches, like the veal meatball topped with provolone, parsley and marinara, and the Asian meatball, made with seasoned pork simmered in Asian BBQ sauce.

A great feature started by Levy Restaurants that will continue this year will be its Farmers in the Park program, where local farmers visit the Stadium Club to talk about the seasonal ingredients used on the menu.  We love keeping it local.

This season there are also several new healthy menu items to accommodate guests looking for more nutritious options.  You’ll now be able to enjoy a crisp chop salad, a veggie cup with hummus, and a Mexican-style fruit cup served with a lime wedge and chili lime salt.

There has also been an increase in guests requesting gluten-free items at the ballpark over the past few seasons, and this year offerings will include Red Bridge beer, Taste Good tortilla chips, gluten-free caramel & cheddar popcorn mix, Eden Organic Pumpkin Seeds, Eden Organic Berry Mix, Larabars, NuGO Free Dark Chocolate Bar, Skittles, and gluten-free gummy bears

And, never walking away from tradition, fans at US Cellular Field will also be able to get the traditional footlong Polish sausage. It’s served in all the club concession stands and comes with grilled onions. It’s still a must-have for die-hard Sox fans.

So, whatever your tastes, your next trip to The Cell this year will be a tasty one.  For more information on the new menu items this year, check out the Levy Restaurant website at www.levyrestaurants.com.
