A Florida woman was arrested after telling authorities she had a tampon in her bag instead of what they found: marijuana, police said.

Alisa Stone, 43, was stopped by Stuart Police on Sept. 26, while walking home from work in the bicycle lane, instead of using the sidewalk, according to her arrest report.

The officer gave her a warning for not walking on the sidewalk. He also asked her about her about previous arrests. Stone said she had been previously arrested for narcotics, among other things, the arrest report said.

Because of her response to previous arrests, the officer then decided to check Stone’s bag, the report said. She told him she was not carrying any drugs and placed her bag on top of his patrol car, the report said.

“I could see from where I was standing and how she was holding the book-bag a plastic bag that contained a green substance,” the officer wrote in the arrest report.

But Stone denied it and closed her bag telling the officer that “it was a tampon,” the report said.

“I told her that it did not look like a tampon and she opened the book-bag removing a tampon from another part of the book-bag,” the report said.

The officer took the bag and arrested Stone. She faces charges of drug possession of cannabis under 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It wasn’t immediately known if she had an attorney.
