More money is now spent on online smut sites than on live adult entertainment.

America is united – in porn.

A Harvard study that looked at subscribers to a “Top-10” adult website has found little difference in the numbers of porn aficionados among the states.

All but four states yielded between 1 and 3.5 porn subscribers per 1,000 broadband users, according to the study, which analyzed credit card receipts by zip code.

On Sundays—the Lord’s Day—the number of porn subscribers dwindled relative to other days during the week.

But culture warriors shouldn’t celebrate just yet.

“Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by,” Benjamin Edelman, the study's author, told Newscientist.com.

States where residents were likely to agree with these statements: “I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage; I never doubt the existence of God; AIDS might be God’s punishment for immoral sexual behavior” showed slightly higher numbers of porn subscribers than those from other states.

Utah topped the list, averaging 5.47 adult subscribers per 1,000 broadband users. Montana had the smallest number of subscribers, 1.92 per 1,000.
