Obama's South Side House Goes Mini

Mini house is organic

Just because President Obama is larger than life doesn’t mean his house has to be.

The Chicago Botanic Gardens has added a miniature replica of the First Family’s Kenwood home to their “Wonderland Express” toy train route, according to the Sun-Times.

The classic Chicago brick bungalow joins 80 other miniature Chicago landmarks that dot the route – including Michelle Obama’s childhood home from South Shore.

Those mini homes could go a long way in appeasing the presidents ultra-liberal critics because the scaled-down structure is completely organic.

Designers pieced together the 2-foot tall representation with white pine bark and catalpa beans for the brick exterior; tiny flower pots made from burr oak caps line the front porch, which is made from Chinese honeysuckle, eucalyptus leaves, okra seeds and magnolia and lotus pod stems.

The mini Obama homes go on display on Nov. 27 at the Glencoe garden.
