Mexican Woman Pregnant with Nine Babies

The successful delivery of the nonuplets would be one of the highest multiple births ever recorded

Nonuplets are on the way for one woman in Mexico.

Karla Vanessa Perez is pregnant with nine babies – six girls and three boys – after having undergone fertility treatment, the country’s main broadcaster Televisa reported on Thursday night.

The expectant mother is reportedly being treated at a Saltillo hospital in the northeastern state of Coahuila, which borders Texas.

Perez, 32, is already a mother of two girls and one boy, according to Medical Daily.

She is expected to give birth on May 20, Reuters reported, citing the state-owned news agency Notimex.

“It’s very early to think of names for the babies,” Perez told Notimex. “First I hope that everything goes well.”

The successful delivery of nonuplets would be one of the highest multiple births ever recorded, according to Reuters.

In 2009 a 36-year-old California woman, Nadya Suleman, gave birth to eight babies – six boys and two girls.

The “Octomom’s” case sparked worldwide media attention, as hers were the longest surviving set of octuplets in U.S. history, MSNBC reported.

"Octomom" holds the record for delivering the most babies at one time that survived, according to Guinness World Records.
