Foal Born with Patch That Looks Like Its Own Shadow

Not only does the horse have something of a self portrait on his coat, he's also got a little heart near his hind quarters

A chestnut foal born in May in England has been gaining a lot of attention around the Internet for his peculiar, self referential birthmark.

The young horse, named Da Vinci or "Vinny" for short, appears to host his own silhouette on his back and shoulder that mingles with his mane.

Owner Wendy Bulmer told the Daily Mail that she named the horse Da Vinci because of the work of art that adorns his coat.

This horse, she said, is full of surprises.

"I bought his mother at a sale and didn't know she was in foal [pregnant] so that was a bit of a surprise," the riding school owner Wendy Bulmer told the Daily Mail in an interview.

While many chestnut horses have patches, most are unrecognizable, Bulmer said, but this one is a work of art.

Not only does the horse have something of a self portrait on his coat, he's also got a little heart near his hind quarters.

Maybe that heart is why all the children Bulmer's riding school, Fyling Hall riding school at Robin's Hood Bay love 'Vinny' so much. Or maybe it's because he's such a friendly foal, like Bulmer said.
