Carjacker Caught After Getting Trapped by Garage Door: Prosecutors

The carjacker was allegedly trapped when the victim closed her garage door

A Chicago woman reportedly thwarted the carjacking of her vehicle after she trapped an alleged carjacker inside by closing her garage door.

Andre Bacon, 21, was charged with felony attempted vehicle hijacking and theft in connection to the failed carjacking Saturday on the Northwest Side.

Prosecutors alleged Sunday that Bacon entered the victim’s garage in the 3300 block of North Long Avenue in the Cragin neighborhood and demanded that she hand over her keys, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The victim reportedly surrendered the keys and fled the garage, then closed the door behind her and called police.

Police arrived and opened the garage door and found Bacon sitting the driver’s seat of the car with the keys in the ignition, the Tribune reported.

Bacon was ordered held on $75,000 bond Sunday.
