Metra trains entering and leaving Union Station were halted during the Friday morning rush due to Amtrak “computer signaling problems” on the north and south sides of the station, according to Metra.The glitch started tying up Metra trains about 6:30 a.m. on the Milwaukee District-North, North Central Service, BNSF, Milwaukee District-West, SouthWest Service and Heritage Corridor lines, the transit agency said.The problems were ongoing as of 7:25 a.m., with Amtrak crews “manually lining tracks for trains” to start moving in and out of the station, until the computer system is restored, officials said.It wasn’t clear how long it would take Amtrak to fix the problem. Metra urged riders to listen to platform announcements and monitor its website.]]>

President Donald Trump on Thursday again expressed a desire for America to be an unparalleled military power, saying he wants to build up the U.S. nuclear arsenal to make it "top of the pack," NBC News reported. In an interview with Reuters, the president stated that the United States had fallen behind on atomic weapons but did not detail what kind of expansion, if any, the military would pursue. "A dream would be that no country would have nukes," Trump told Reuters. "But if countries are going to have nukes, we're going to be at the top of the pack."

An undocumented woman in need of surgery to remove a brain tumor is being held at a North Texas Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center, Attorney Chris Hamilton said.Sara Beltran Hernandez has been held at the Prairie Land Detention Center in Alvarado since November 2015. She collapsed at the detention center this month after complaining of headaches, nosebleeds and memory loss, according to Hamilton. She was then transported to Texas Health Huguley Hospital in Burleson, where she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that requires surgery.

A judge ordered Nassar held without bond — a moot point since he is already locked up without bail on federal child pornography charges and a state charge that he repeatedly molested a family friend starting when she was 6 years old.Wearing orange jail garb with his left hand shackled to his waist, Nassar gave only brief answers to the judge's questions at the first of two back-to-back arraignments in two counties on 22 counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree.

Now that you can easily skip through traditional television commercials, advertisers are finding creative new ways to get their brands on your radar, the NBC Los Angeles I-team reported.A recent survey found that 76 percent of people use their digital video recorder ("DVR") and/or ad blocking software to avoid commercials on television and online. A total of 68 percent of those surveyed admit to remembering fewer than five advertisements that they've seen in the past week.With billions of ad dollars at stake, marketers are turning to less obvious strategies to get consumers to buy.One technique that's proven effective is "product placement," where a company pays to have its product appear in the background of a TV show. Nielsen identified 4,538 instances of product placement during the 2015-2016 television season.
