App Allows Commuters to Pay for Parking at CTA Lots

Service will also alert commuters via text message when they have 15 minutes left to move their vehicle

Need to pay for parking at a Chicago Transit Authority “Park & Ride” lot? There’s an app for that.

The transit agency announced Monday that commuters can use their mobile phones to pay for parking at 14 CTA lots near stations along the Blue, Brown, Green, Orange and Pink Lines.

Commuters can either use a smart-phone app developed by Parkmobile or call the company directly to make payments with their credit or debit card, the CTA said in a release. Parkmobile will also alert commuters via text message when they have 15 minutes left to move their vehicle, the release said.

CTA riders can sign up for the service at www.parkmobile.com.

The CTA said the initiative would not cost the agency any money because Parkmobile is a subcontractor of Central Parking Systems, which manages the parking lots.
