For many after unpacking a Nintendo Wii, the first item on the agenda is throwing in the Wii Sports disc that comes with the console. Soon after, you're digging into the bowling, tennis, golf and other sports included.

But, those are just the beginning as shown in the embedded video clip. The new 'Wii Sports Resort' features a wide range of activities all using the Wii MotionPlus accessory packaged with the game.

MotionPlus was created to offer more precision with arm and wrist movements during game play. The Archery and Swordplay events are perhaps the best examples of the usefulness of MotionPlus and why it should help push the Wii forward in the coming years.

As far as Wii games go, Sports Resort is full of some fairly impressive graphics supporting the exploits of the cartoonish Mii characters from which you get to choose.

While none of this is intended to be as strenuous as Wii Fit, it's nonetheless accessible, appropriately challenging and family-friendly.

Laurence Scott looks forward to the new Wii Legend of Zelda game set to use MotionPlus when released in what's expected to be 2011.
