Willson Contreras Could Miss 4-6 Weeks With Hamstring Injury

After suffering a hamstring injury in Wednesday's game, Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras is heading to the disabled list, the team said.

Contreras, who won National League Player of the Week honors last week after slugging five home runs in six games, will likely miss four-to-six weeks with the injury, and will be re-evaluated after two weeks, the team said.

In the meantime, the Cubs will recall catcher Victor Caratini from Triple-A Iowa. He will serve as Alex Avila's back-up starting with Friday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The loss of Contreras is huge for the Cubs, who are fighting the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers in the Central Division. The Cardinals trail the Cubs by one game, while the Brewers are two back.
