According to multiple reports, Chicago White Sox catcher Welington Castillo will be suspended for violating MLB’s steroid policy.

Castillo, who signed as a free agent with the White Sox prior to the season, will be suspended for 80 games as a result of a failed drug test, according to reports.

In 32 games with the White Sox this season, Castillo has six home runs and 15 RBI, and has posted a .270 batting average.

The suspension is expected to be announced by the league on Thursday, and no roster move has been announced by the White Sox.

According to initial reports, Castillo had tested positive for steroids, but Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports that the catcher tested positive for a different drug.

Under MLB’s Joint Drug Agreement, first time offenders receive an 80-game suspension for violating league policy.
