Steve Cishek Officially Signs With Cubs

The Chicago Cubs made it official on Saturday, announcing that they had signed relief pitcher Steve Cishek to a two-year contract.

Cishek, who posted a 2.01 ERA in 49 appearances with the Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays last season, figures to be an important part of a reshaped Cubs bullpen, and he’s excited to get his tenure started in the Windy City:

“I’ve had ‘Go Cubs Go’ playing in my head since Thursday,” Cishek tweeted. “Thankful for this opportunity and beyond thrilled to be a Cub!”

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Cishek’s contract will pay him an average of $6.5 million per season over the next two years.
