Social Media Erupts After Marcus Cooper's Gaffe vs. Steelers

The Chicago Bears may have won on Sunday afternoon, but the day’s conversation was dominated by the atrocious play made by defensive back Marcus Cooper in the second quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After the Bears blocked a field goal at the end of the first half, Cooper looked to be cruising to the end zone for an easy touchdown. Except that’s not what happened:

The Bears still got a field goal after all of that thanks to a penalty on the Steelers, but Cooper’s gaffe generated plenty of fan buzz and feedback on social media:

Cooper did end up having the last laugh, as the Bears won and he allowed just one reception against him in nine throws targeted to his side of the field. Even still, something tells us it’ll take him a long time to live down his Leon Lett moment.
