Davis, Hansen Both Qualify for 1500 Meter Race

United States speedskater Shani Davis will have two chances for gold at the Winter Olympics as he qualified for the 1500 meter race on Saturday.

Davis, a Chicago-native who had already qualified in the 1000 meter race earlier in the week, finished in third place at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials on Saturday, punching his ticket to PyeongChang in that race.

Davis won’t be the only Chicago-area skater heading to PyeongChang in the 1000 meter race, as Glenview-native Brian Hansen finished in second place in the race with a time of 1:46.642.
