Michael Jordan Responds to LaVar Ball's Taunts

LaVar Ball, who has crafted his reputation based on outlandish statements and aggressive marketing, has repeatedly said that he could beat Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one, and His Airness finally responded to those claims.

Jordan, who won six NBA championships with the Bulls in the 1990’s, addressed a group of campers at the Michael Jordan Flight School, and he made it very clear that he doesn’t take Ball’s challenge seriously:

“He played, I think, college, maybe? He averaged, like 2.2 points a game,” Jordan said. “Really? It doesn’t dignify an answer, but I’m going to give it to you, because you asked the question. I don’t think he could beat me if I was one-legged.”

Clearly Jordan has given the matter at least a little bit of thought, because Ball indeed averaged 2.2 points per game in his lone season with Washington State. He scored a total of 56 points in his collegiate career, according to Basketball Reference.

Meanwhile, Jordan averaged 17.7 points per game in his college career at North Carolina, winning Player of the Year honors in 1984 with the Tar Heels. He also won a national championship at the school, hitting the game-winning shot in the national title game.

He was even better as a professional, averaging 31.5 points per game in 13 seasons with the Bulls. He won five MVP awards, six NBA championships, and appeared in 14 NBA All-Star Games in his illustrious NBA career.

Ball did have a response to Jordan's comments, calling them "entertainment."

"I can beat him with one hand," Ball told a Cleveland radio station. "Now we both look like we out there like we can't play."
