Forte, Hester to Ink 1-Day Contracts With Bears

Forte finished just behind Walter Payton in a slew of categories, and Hester is one of the best returners in NFL history

The Chicago Bears will honor two of the greatest players in the franchise’s history on Monday, as Devin Hester and Matt Forte ride off into the sunset.

The Bears announced that they would sign both Hester and Forte to one-day contracts, allowing them to retire as members of the team where they enjoyed years of success.

Hester, who racked up 13 punt return touchdowns with the Bears during an eight-year run with the team, is one of the most successful kick returners in NFL history, and announced his retirement in December 2017.

As for Forte, he is one of the top rushers in Bears history, rushing for 8602 yards and 45 touchdowns in eight seasons with the team. He also caught 487 passes for 4116 yards and 19 touchdowns through the air, making him one of the best dual-threat backs in NFL history.

The Bears will hold an event Monday afternoon at Halas Hall to honor both players, and the team is holding a special auction on their app for fans to bid on an opportunity to attend the ceremony and to meet both players.
