With their hot start and as owners of one of the best records in baseball, it’s no surprise that the Chicago Cubs are well-represented on the list of the top-selling jerseys in the sport this season.

What is surprising however is that the Cubs do not own the top spot on that list.

That honor belongs to Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, who is retiring at the end of the 2016 season. Ortiz, who has hit 22 home runs this season, is the proud owner of three World Series rings with the Red Sox, and he is helping guide the team toward another playoff berth in the American League.

After Ortiz in the top spot, the Cubs begin to really make their presence known. According to MLBShop.com, the second-best selling jersey in baseball this year belongs to Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant, who will start at the position for the National League in Tuesday night’s All-Star Game.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo, whom is considered by many experts to be a potential front-runner for the National League MVP award this season, is currently ranked as the fourth-best selling jersey in the game, and starting pitcher Jake Arrieta is in seventh after he won the N.L. Cy Young Award after the 2015 campaign.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw is currently in third place, and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout rounds out the top five.

For Chicago White Sox fans eager to hear how their team fared, we unfortunately have some bad news: no White Sox players cracked the top-20 in jersey sales, which were tabulated from Jan. 1 through the All-Star Game.
