Jabari Parker Inks Contract With Chicago Bulls

Parker averaged 15.3 points per game with the Bucks last season

A hometown hero is coming back to the Windy City, as forward Jabari Parker has agreed to a contract with the Chicago Bulls.

The deal, first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and was later announced by the Bulls, could pay Parker $40 million over two seasons, and comes just moments after the Milwaukee Bucks rescinded their qualifying offer to him.

According to multiple reports, the second year of the contract is a team option, giving the Bulls some extra insurance after Parker suffered multiple ACL tears during his four years in Milwaukee.

Parker attended Simeon Academy in Chicago, and was the number two pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Duke University. In four professional seasons, Parker has averaged 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, but has dealt with a myriad of health issues that have cost him a total of 82 games over the last two seasons.

As for his status on the Bulls, he joins an increasingly crowded front court, as Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter Jr., and Zach LaVine will all be vying for playing time. LaVine will likely play more at the shooting guard position, but could still see some time at small forward.

To make room for Parker on the roster, the Bulls released Paul Zipser and Julyan Stone.
