Chicago White Sox Activate Dylan Covey From Injured List

Covey had been on the injured list since June 9 with shoulder inflammation

The Chicago White Sox made a roster move prior to their game against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, activating pitcher Dylan Covey from the injured list and designating pitcher Juan Minaya for assignment.

Covey, who had been out of commission for over a month due to right shoulder inflammation, was recalled from an injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte. The hurler has a 1-4 record and a 4.58 ERA in nine appearances this season, and will start against the A’s in Oakland on Saturday.

The 28-year-old Minaya has appeared in 22 games with the White Sox this season, with a 3.90 ERA and 27 strikeouts in those contests.

The moves do open up a spot on the White Sox 40-man roster, the team said in a press release.
