Cubs Provide Update on Darvish, Bryant Injuries

Both players are dealing with nagging injuries

The Chicago Cubs got some good news on pitcher Yu Darvish, who had a bullpen session on Wednesday afternoon.

Darvish, who has been out of the rotation since late May due to tendinitis in his pitching arm, threw the session at PNC Park, and felt good, according to Cubs manager Joe Maddon.

The next step for the hurler will be to throw two innings in a simulated game on Saturday at Wrigley Field, according to Maddon, and if that goes well he'll throw one more simulated game before starting a rehab stint in the minor leagues.

Unfortunately for the Cubs, the news wasn't as good for Kris Bryant, who is dealing with a nagging shoulder issue. He has not resumed hitting yet, but Maddon says that his return could come quickly due to the nature of the injury.

The Cubs will wrap up a brief two-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday before returning to Wrigley Field for a four-game set against the San Diego Padres.
