Chicago Cubs Name New Pitching Coach

The move will mark Hottovy's first season on a major league coaching staff

The Chicago Cubs have named Tommy Hottovy as their new pitching coach, replacing Jim Hickey after he stepped down from the position for personal reasons last month.

The team announced the news Thursday also naming Termel Sledge their assistant hitting coach and Chris Denorfia their quality assurance coach. Mike Borzella will also serve as the associate pitching coach.

The move will mark Hottovy's first season on a major league coaching staff. He joined the Cubs as a coordinator in major league scouting in 2015 after a 10-year pro pitching career.

Hickey, who was hired by the Cubs prior to the 2018 season after the firing of Chris Bosio, informed the team he was stepping down late last month.
