Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation Raises Over $1 Million With Walk

The charity raised a record-setting $1.1 million with the walk

Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo has hit another home run away from the baseball diamond after his charity raised over $1 million at their annual Walk-Off for Cancer event.

The event, held in Rizzo’s hometown of Parkland, Florida had over 1,000 participants, and the 5K walk featured Rizzo and his family.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital, the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and families that are battling cancer.

The Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation was founded by the Cubs star to help families that are dealing with cancer diagnoses. The charity helps families out with expenses while also raising money for life-saving research.

Rizzo knows the pain of battling cancer, as he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2008. Rizzo ultimately beat the disease, and has since raised millions of dollars for charity, including in the Chicago area.
