Kris Dunn to Miss Chicago Bulls' Season Opener Due to Personal Issue

Cameron Payne will start in Dunn's place

The Chicago Bulls will get their 2018-19 season underway, and they will do so without their starting point guard.

The team announced Thursday that guard Kris Dunn will miss the season opener against the Philadelphia 76'ers due to a personal issue, and that his absence is excused.

Dunn played in 52 games for the Bulls last season, scoring 13.4 points per game and dishing out an average of six assists per contest.

Cameron Payne will start in Dunn's place, according to head coach Fred Hoiberg. Payne averaged 8.8 points and 4.5 assists per game while playing 23.3 minutes per contest for the Bulls a season ago.

The Bulls will also be without forward Lauri Markkanen, who is still dealing with a shoulder issue, and Denzel Valentine, who missed all of preseason with an ankle injury.

Tip-off for the Bulls is set for 7 p.m., and the game will air nationally on TNT.
