Bears Lose as Hail Mary Comes Up 1 Yard Short

The Chicago Bears were hoping for an upset over the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon, but they came up one yard and seven points short as they lost a 38-31 heartbreaker at Soldier Field.

On the final play of the game, Mitchell Trubisky threw a Hail Mary pass toward the end zone, and wide receiver Kevin White came down with the football. Unfortunately, White couldn’t get the ball across the goal line, falling one yard short and giving the Patriots a dramatic victory.

Trubisky attempted 50 passes in the game, completing 26 of them for 333 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptios and was sacked twice in the losing effort.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns in the game, and Josh Gordon had 100 receiving yards.

The Patriots’ special teams unit did some remarkable work, getting a Cordarrelle Patterson kick return for a touchdown and a punt block that was returned for a touchdown by Kyle Van Noy.

The loss drops the Bears to 3-3 on the season as they prepare for a Week 8 matchup with the New York Jets at Soldier Field.
