Chicago Bears fans are going to have to wait to get their first glimpse of safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, as the defender will likely start training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Clinton-Dix, the former Green Bay Packers safety who signed a one-year contract with the Bears over the offseason, sprained his knee toward the end of mini-camp, Bears General Manager Ryan Pace revealed during his annual training camp press conference on Sunday.
Pace said that the team doesn’t anticipate that the injury will be a long term problem.
The G.M. also announced that the Bears expect tackle T.J. Clemmings and defensive lineman Jonathan Harris to begin camp on the PUP list.
During training camp, players can be activated from the PUP list once they’re cleared by the team’s medical personnel. They can attend meetings and work out at team facilities.
If a player spends all of the preseason on the PUP list, then they can be transferred to the regular season PUP, which means they’re down for at least the first six weeks of the campaign.
