MLB Releases Official Cubs World Series Championship Movie for Purchase

With snow on the ground and cold temperatures in the forecast, Chicago Cubs fans could certainly use a dose of summer right now, and now they’ll be able to get a spiritual pick-me-up.

That’s because the official MLB video of the Cubs’ 2016 World Series championship run went on sale Tuesday morning. The film, which is available on DVD and Blu-Ray, features all of the behind-the-scenes footage you can handle from the 2016 Fall Classic, where the Cubs erased a 3-1 series deficit and beat the Cleveland Indians in seven games to clinch their first title in 108 years.

The film is narrated by long-time Cubs fan and Hollywood icon Vince Vaughn, and it features all of the moments that defined not just the Cubs’ 2016 playoff run, but their historic season as well. Created by production company Shout! Factory and Major League Baseball, the film is available in a 90-minute, two-disc format on Tuesday, or a whopping 20-hour, eight-disc "collector's edition" on Dec. 13.

From Miguel Montero’s NLCS grand slam to the rain delay that seemed to be just the kind of divine intervention that the Cubs needed in Game 7, the team’s journey is recounted in amazing detail that will fill fans with awesome memories of one of the most momentous sporting achievements in history.

The movie is available for pre-order on Shout! Factory's website, where the two-disc DVD/digital set retails for $20.99 (or $27.99 with Blu-Ray), and the collector's edition is listed at $63.97 for Blu-Ray and $47.99 for DVD.

Following their respective release dates, both versions of the film will be available at retailers across the Chicago area.
