Buccaneers Blow Out Bears as Glennon, Defense Struggle

The Chicago Bears came into this week hoping to build on their Week 1 effort, but the exact opposite happened as they fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 29-7 at Raymond James Stadium Sunday.

Mike Glennon threw a pair of interceptions and lost a fumble in the game, and former Bears running back Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 66 yards and a score as the Buccaneers dominated the Bears all afternoon long.

Injury issues were present for the Bears all afternoon, as Nick Kwiatkoski, Tom Compton, and Josh Sitton were all forced out of the game with injuries.

The Buccaneers got on the board early with a Nick Folk field goal, and they ended up getting the ball in tremendous field position after Tarik Cohen botched a punt return deep in Tampa territory. Jameis Winston threw a touchdown pass to Mike Evans, and the Bucs took a 10-0 lead.

The Bears turned the ball over again early in the second quarter after Glennon was sacked by Noah Spence around midfield. Tampa then went on a nine-play scoring drive, capped off by a Rodgers touchdown run to make it a 17-0 game.

Things went from bad to worse for the Bears as Glennon threw an interception into the waiting arms of Rolando McClain. The defender ended up scampering 47 yards to the end zone to give Tampa a commanding 23-0 lead.

The Buccaneers ended up adding two more field goals, and they cruised to an easy season-opening victory.

The 0-2 Bears will next take the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Soldier Field.
