Baez Says Cubs ‘Know We're the Best' Team in Baseball

Javier Baez carries himself with a winking swagger on the baseball field, but even after a Game 2 loss on Sunday night, he still has utmost confidence in the Cubs' ability to win the NLCS

Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez carries himself with a lot of swagger on and off the baseball field, and even after Sunday’s 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the star still has a lot of confidence that the team will win their series.

Speaking to the media after the game, Baez said that he wasn’t worried about the team’s chances after a 1-0 loss in Game 2 of the NLCS, and there is a very simple reason for his optimism.

“We can’t win all of them,” Baez told the media. “We know we’re the best. We know we’re the best team out there and we gotta play our game.”

Baez had a solid game for the Cubs on Sunday, starting a tremendous double play on defense and getting one of the Cubs’ only two hits on offense in the contest.

The infielder has had a coming out party of sorts in the playoffs, racking up dazzling defensive plays and clutch base hits, and he’s even made a name for himself in being able to ham it up for the cameras in the dugout:

If the rest of the team is as confident in itself as Baez is, then they have a very good chance of winning Game 3 and getting back ahead in the series on Tuesday night.
