Valentine's Day in Sochi: Hearts Are Racing For Olympic Athletes

Love is in the air for Olympic athletes

With Valentine's Day falling right in the middle of the Winter Games this year, love is definitely in the air at the Sochi Olympic Village.

Fueled by a mix of adrenaline and endorphins – perhaps a dose of the Tinder dating app as well – U.S. athletes are opening up to the world about their Olympic crushes.

American short track speed skater Eddy Alvarez says he doesn't want to come off too strong, but he wants to marry his crush: Norwegian snowboarder Silje Norendal.

U.S. ski slopestyle bronze medalist Nick Goepper is killing it on the slopes, and on social media too, tweeting "Is there ANYONE out there generous enough to be my Valentine? #sochiproblems."

Even @NBCOlympics is feeling sorry for the lonely 19-year-old, giving his search for love a little viewership boost:

While Goepper might be rocking out to Taylor Swift songs today, his fellow Team USA men's freeski gold medalist Joss Christensen is enamored with actress Emma Watson.

Speedskater Alyson Dudek cast a wider Valentine's Day net, sending out a sweet photo captioned "From Sochi with love" to all her fans.

The athletes' bids for love aren't the only Winter Olympics-themed Valentine's Day tweets taking over the web.

The hashtag game featuring "#OlympicPickupLines," created on Monday by "The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon, has already received thousands of clever and oh-Sochi-eesy submissions.

Goepper and Christensen, along with fellow Team USA men's freeski podium sweeper Gus Kenworthy, appeared on the Today Show to deliver a few of Fallon's favorite lines:

"I'm no curler, but I think I could sweep you off your feet!"
"Did you just fall from heaven? Or did your hotel room floor cave in?"
"Do you know what my country's ski jacket is made of? Boyfriend material."

And last, our favorite Valentine's Day post came from the U.S. Olympic Team (@USOlympic): "I'd ski down this… If you were at the finish line."

Figure skater Ashley Wagner posted a Valentine's Day card you could send to your sweetheart – check out these Olympic e-cards too.
