The last two days have not been very kind to the Chicago Bears.  First there was the fourth quarter comeback on Sunday afternoon in the Georgia Dome when Kyle Orton found Rashied Davis in the corner of the end zone to give the Bears a 20-19 lead with 11 seconds left in the game.   That was quickly followed by a squib kick, a Falcons pass to the 30-yard line with a second left on the clock, and a Jason Elam field goal as time expired to win the game and rip the heart out of every Bears fan in the Chicagoland area.

Of course, this was good news for guard Terrence Metcalf.   You see, people were so focused on asking the Bears players and coaches about what the hell happened on Sunday at Halas Hall today, most people didn't notice the news that Terrence had been suspended for four games by the NFL.   His crime?   Why it turns out Terrence has fallen prey to the needle, as he tested positive for steroids.

"It's something that happens," coach Lovie Smith said. "He's not the first guy in the league to get suspended for this reason, and that's about as much time as we can spend on it. The league says he's suspended four games. That's what we'll go with. ... When you make a mistake like that, there are consequences that go with it."

Now I'm not exactly shocked or appalled by this news.   I mean, it's not really surprising that an NFL player would be taking steroids, especially an offensive lineman.   In fact, I've always been somewhat amused by the way sports fans became so concerned about steroid use in baseball -- even Congress got involved -- yet those same fans seem to turn a blind eye towards football where you would think steroid use would be more prevalent.

Really, the only thing about this story that bothers me is that Terrence had to have gotten his hands on a bad batch.  If he was taking steroids, shouldn't he have been able to help Matt Forte get into the end zone on that fourth and goal yesterday?   So my advice to Terrence is to find a new steroids dealer.  Oh, and have somebody else pee in the cup for you.   It's not hard, you can buy clean urine on the internet.   Hell, I'll do it for you if you want.
