A big part of the rejuvenated Chicago White Sox offense is out for the season.
The team announced Thursday that 22-year-old outfielder Avisail Garcia will undergo season-ending surgery this week for a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Garcia injured himself Wednesday while attempting to make a diving catch in the 6th inning of the game against the Colorado Rockies.
Initial X-rays proved negative, but an MRI revealed the torn labrum.
Garcia was batting .267 (8-30) with two home runs, four RBI and six runs scored in eight games this season.
He was acquired from the Detroit Tigers in a trade last year.
The White Sox recalled outfielder Jordan Danks from Class AAA Charlotte.
