A source very close to the situation told NBC Chicago the White Sox and free agent Outfielder Bobby Abreu are not engaged in negotiations and in fact, the entire story was fabricated.

According to the New York Daily News, the White Sox offered former Yankees outfielder Bobby Abreu a one-year, $8 million contract.  ESPN.com reported the talks had halted.

The 34-year-old Abreu is one of the premier right fielders remaining on the market.
