The Ryder Cup Matches, as they're officially known, are a biennial golf competition between the United States and Europe. The competition debuted in 1927 and is named after Samuel Ryder, an English businessman, golf enthusiast and golf promoter, who donated a solid gold trophy.

The 2012 Ryder Cup will take place Sept. 28-30 at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill. Watch the final two rounds that Saturday and Sunday on NBC.
