The numerous rumors swirling about a Ryan Dempster trade have finally been verified.
The ace pitcher for the Chicago Cubs was traded to the Texas Rangers, Cubs' officials said Tuesday.
For weeks, Dempster has been either denying or keeping mum on rumors of a trade to the Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers and other teams.
"I have some options and a pretty good idea of where I want to go," Dempster said last week, declining to reveal what team that was because "I don't want to name specific teams because that's how more rumors get started."
The pitcher had the right to veto any trade, due to his 10 years of service in the major leagues, including five with his current team.
In exchange for Dempster, the Cubs acquired Rangers prospects Christian Villanueva, third baseman, and Kyle Hendricks, pitcher.
