Cubs fans -- forever hopeful -- can put their faith back in the deal that's in the works between the Tribune Co. and the Ricketts family for the sale of the team.

About a week ago, the Tribune announced that they were examining alternatives to the Ricketts plan to buy the Cubs, Wrigley Field and the Tribune Co.'s 25 percent stake in Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

But things are looking up for the wealthy family and for the Tribune's owner, Sam Zell.

"We're closing the gap," a source told the Chicago Tribune. "The attitudes are much more positive."
