Prep Destination Dance Friday: Lakes Community H.S

Lakes Community High School was the host of Dance Friday on NBC 5 News Today

The rivalry between the Lakes and Antioch Community High Schools came to sudden halt as students came together for Prep Destination of the Week.

Hundreds of students from both schools gathered at the school's gymnasium on Friday for an early morning tailgate with NBC 5 News Today.

Student leader and all-star hockey player Jamie Dykstra led the fearless Eagles, while DJ Kolpanen, a standout band member, directed the spirited Sequoits as students danced to “Give Me Everything”.

Lakes Community High School Athletic Director Troy Parola conveyed his excitement for both schools coming together as a community for Dance Friday.

“The rivalry started between the schools about eight years ago when Lakes Community High School was formed. A healthy rivalry is what I would call it, because the schools are always looking for ways to give back to the community,” Parola said.

The statement comes after students from both high schools came together to raise money for the Open Arms Mission-Food Pantry.
