The first week of the IHSA playoffs takes us to a re-match between two Central Suburban schools for the NBC 5 "Prep Destination of the Week" feature.
Glenbrook South and New Trier will meet in the playoffs for the first time since 1985, and they will also be featured on NBC 5 News Today for the first time after winning the Prep Destination Facebook poll.
NBC 5 will bring its cameras to Glenbrook South High School early Friday morning to highlight their game against New Trier.
The south side shootout between Homewood-Flossmoor and Marist came in second place, and the Providence-Wheaton South match up finished in 3rd.
The Trevians (6-3) enter the playoffs for the 9th straight season, but have just one win since 2004 in the postseason. New Trier is hoping to turn the tables after suffering a 21-10 loss at Glenbrook South on September 30th.
Head to Glenbrook South starting at 5:45 a.m. and be ready to cheer! We will be celebrating Halloween in the NBC 5 News Today studios, so feel free to wear your favorite costume if you'd like!
We ask the fans to be energetic as possible, as we hope showcase their community pride all throughout Chicagoland.
Also, don't forget you'll get to show us your moves on "Dance Friday."
