It probably didn't look like this, but you get the picture.

It can take a lifetime to win a national college championship, but who knew the tough part would be trying to not lose the ring?

Such was the case for former volleyball coach Dave Deuser, whose championship ring was stolen after he led his Lewis University men's volleyball team to the NCAA championship in 2003.

The team was not without its other problems that year, and after the season the NCAA stripped the team’s winning title and accused the school of illegitimate activity, according to Chicagobreakingnews.com, but the actual ring was not something the NCAA could not take away from the coach.

Deuser has been without the ring since it was stolen along with his car in July, according to the Southtown Star.  After contacting a group of local pawn shops about his ring, he was recently reunited with the metallic souvenir from a winning season long past.

His car, a black 2004 Mercedes Benz, meanwhile, has not yet been located.
