Kyle Schwarber Out for Season With Torn ACL, LCL

The collision occurred in the bottom of the second inning of Thursday's game

After undergoing an MRI on Friday, it was revealed that Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber suffered a torn ACL and a torn LCL in his left knee in a collision with Dexter Fowler during Thursday's win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The injuries mean that Schwarber's season is over, according to an announcement by the team.

The collision occurred in the bottom of the second inning of Thursday's game. Schwarber and Fowler were both chasing after a fly ball off the bat of Arizona second baseman Jean Segura, and they collided in the left-center field gap. Schwarber immediately crumpled to the ground in pain, and he was later carted off the field after being helped to his feet by the team's training staff.

Jorge Soler will get the start on Friday night in place of Schwarber, and Munenori Kawasaki will replace him on the 25-man roster.
