With the brim of his hat barely showing his eyes, you could still see the steam coming out of Kyle Busch's ears. Last week's loss at Daytona wasn't just because he can't win restrictor plate races. Busch believes his collision with Tony Stewart's No. 14 Office Depot Chevrolet was not due to his blocking the points leader from passing him, but rather Stewart "dumping" the leader of the race to win it himself. "I think Nascar can take a step in looking at it and if the second place driver dumps - quote unquote - the leader, then black flag his ass. Black Flag him, he doesn't get the win."
Later when Tony Stewart took the microphone, he had already read the transcripts of Busch's comments. "I know a lot of you will ask about Kyle Busch. We talked earlier this week... for 30 minutes (Tuesday) and I feel very good about our conversation... that's all I am going to say about it."
Until a cub reporter tried asking Stewart one more time if he felt he was "dumping" Busch as alleged and what his reaction was to Busch saying he should've been "black flagged". Stewart stared down the young reporter. "I am not going for your lure, there are a lot of other guys int his room that have been here a lot longer and know I will not bite. So I am certainly not going to bite on yours."
As for the conversation the two drivers had during the week, maybe the feeling that the air was cleared wasn't exactly mutual. "I really don't have feelings" Busch said peering under the brim of his cap. "It didn't mean a whole lot. I thank him I guess for checking on me to make sure I was alive." Round two Saturday night in Joliet?
