Kevin Durant's Mom Says “Never Give Up”

Kevin Durant's biggest fan opens up to the "Today" show about how she raised her son.

Kevin Durant's mom Wanda Pratt offered humble advice for other parents after being declared "The Real MVP" by her basketball star son.

“My advice is to never give up,” Pratt said on Thursday's "Today" show. “To always put your children first, to always commit yourself to their dreams, their aspirations, and their goals even when it gets hard.”

Pratt was brought to tears during the Oklahoma City Thunder player’s MVP acceptance speech of  at Tuesday’s NBA news conference. He quickly turned his speech — just in time for Mother's Day — into an emotional tribute to his mother, describing the struggles she endured as a single parent.

"You made us believe," Durant said in his speech. "You sacrificed for us. You're the real MVP."

Wanda Pratt said she was expecting just a mere mention during his time at the podium.

"I didn't know it would be to that magnitude," she told "Today." After the speech, she received a standing ovation from the audience as well as over 150 text messages from friends and family.

"I was just really overwhelmed. I was really surprised by all of it. It was just a pleasant surprise," said Durant's biggest fan.
