Justin Timberlake Named Ryder Cup U.S. Ambassador

Timberlake will become the first-ever team ambassador for the 39th Ryder Cup

Justin Timberlake will serve as the 2012 Ryder Cup Team U.S. ambassador, the PGA announced Wednesday.

Timberlake will be the first-ever Team U.S. Ambassador and is scheduled to appear at the Ryder Cup Gala on Sept. 26 at the Akoo Theater in Rosemont and the 39th Ryder Cup Opening Ceremonies on Sept. 27 at the Medinah County Club.

"The Ryder Cup continues to generate incredible excitement as September approaches, and Justin Timberlake's involvement is an added bonus for one of the most highly anticipated sporting events in the world," PGA of America President Allen Wronowski said in a statement.

Ryder Cup is an international golf competition highlighting some of the finest players from the U.S. and Europe. But Timberlake is no slouch, himself.

"Golf has been a lifelong passion of mine," Timberlake said in a statement. "There is no greater stage for the sport than the Ryder Cup, and I'm proud to be an Ambassador for the U.S. Ryder Cup team and take part in such a time-honored event."

This year’s Ryder Cup takes place at the historic Medinah County Club from Sept. 25-30. More information about the 2012 Ryder Cup can be found on their website.
