One of the more than 170 people injured Monday in the twin explosions at the Boston Marathon hails from Northwest Indiana.

Beth Roche, from Highland, was sitting in the bleachers at the finish line with her husband when the bombs went off. Roche, who had been cheering on her daughter during the race, was hit in the leg.

Doctors say she is expected to recover.

In the wake of the bombings, the FBI called on marathon spectators for help, asking for any photos, videos and information that might help them find out who is responsible for the tragedy.

Investigators on Tuesday circulated information about the bombs, which involved kitchen pressure cookers packed with explosives, nails and other lethal shrapnel — but the FBI said nobody had claimed responsibility.

Authorities received 2,000 tips in the first 24 hours.

In Chicago, the Cubs increased security at Wrigley Field and a local group drew hundreds for a unity run on the lakefront in honor of Boston Marathon runners.
