If you're a football fan, tomorrow is the best non-game day of the year. Both college and NFL fans are huddled around a television and computer, watching every pick of the NFL Draft. Who will your team pick? Will that amazing wide receiver from your alma mater go in the top ten? Will the Lions screw up, again? Who will be the last guy left in the green room? It can be a blast.
Unless, your team has only one pick on the first day, and it's in the second round. That's the dilemma facing Bears fans on Saturday. The team gave up their first and third round pick in acquiring Jay Cutler. Granted, most Bears fans will happily take a Pro Bowl quarterback over inconsistency of the Bears' front office performance at the draft, but it can make for a boring draft day.
Still, the Bears can fill a few needs through the draft. Their most glaring hole is at wide receiver -- not much of a point in having Jay Cutler if he doesn't have anyone to throw to -- and they should address this with the draft. The marquee receivers of the draft, Jeremy Maclin and Michael Crabtree, won't be around for the Bears to pick, but they might have a shot at Georgia's Mohammed Massaquoi.
Seeing what Jerry Angelo and Company do with one pick isn't reason enough to sit through the whole draft. Try going outside, enjoying the weather, and check back with NBCChicago.com to find out who the Bears picked. We'll be happy to tell you all about it.
